Day 1 – Sofia – Arrival and a city tour

Arrival in Sofia. Transfer from the airport to the hotel. Check-in. In the evening you will enjoy a delicious dinner in a traditional restaurant. Overnight in Sofia in Hotel 3*.

According arrival You will take a city tour of the Bulgarian capital, including some of the most beautiful churches in Bulgaria – “St. Alexander Nevski” Cathedral, “St. Sofia”, the Rotunda church of “St. George”, “St. Nicholas”, “St. Nedelya”, “St. Petka” as well as all major monuments in the city and The National History Museum.

Day 2 – Sofia - Medical examinations

After the breakfast, you will have a medical examinations. The medical examinations will be done by high quality doctors when the tourists arrive in Sofia, including also academic teaching cadres. According to the conclusion of the examination the tourists will be directed to the following balneology and SPA hotels for resorts treatment.

Bulgaria is one of the richest lands of spas and wellness spots in Europe. With its more than 800 mineral springs with different curative characteristics, the country disposes with some of the best spa resorts, hotel complexes and spa centres in Europe.

Bulgaria’s spas and hot mineral springs have been noted for their recreation effects ever since the ancient Tracian, Greek and Roman times. Over 800 hydro mineral springs clustered in over 240 water formations, rich in hot and cold mineral water with temperatures varying from 37°C up to 101°C, spout out from a depth of over 2000 metres. Bulgarian hydrothermal, bioclimatic, mud treatment, sea cure and other health resources are ranked among the best in Europe.

The mineral waters in Bulgaria are known for their varied chemical composition, for their rich in minerals structure and microcomponents. The balneological treatment traditions in Bulgaria date back to ancient times. In Thracian times many flourishing settlements were found in the vicinities of the hot mineral springs on the Bulgarian lands. In Roman times spa centers were established, including Augusta (present-day Hissarya), Dezudava (Sandanski), Pautalia (Kyustendil) and Serdica (Sofia), where many Roman emperors like Maximilianus and Justinianus used the curative mineral waters for treating their disorders.

Day 8 - Devin - Bachkovo Monastery - Plovdiv - Sofia

Morning departure to Plovdiv - a town with a prominent ancent past, an open-air museum with fascinating architecture. And if you are in the mood of adventure, explore Asen's Fortress and the famous Bachkovo Monastey (11th c.) nestled amidst the slopes of the Rhodope Mountains nearby. Enjoy the murals (17th c.) of the monastery’s churches.

The Bachkovo Monastery is the second largest monastery after the Rila Monastery. "The Virgin Mary" Church - The church was built in 1604. We can say that it is the only one monumental building from the 17th century in Bulgaria. It is cross-domed church, with a polyhedral drum cupola with 12 windows on it. This church is a unique Bulgarian monument with its grandeur and with its architectural decision, quite unusual for the early 17th century.
Asen's Fortress is situated 2 km away from Asenovgrad on a steep, rocky hillside, towering above the left bank of the Asenitsa River. In the past the fortress was known as Petrich, With its locality and structure Asen's Fortress represents typically the construction of fortresses and fortifications in the period of the 11th-14th century. It covers an area about 1,5 ha and gives an impression of a unique architectural structure.
Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria, situated on the Maritsa River. Its unique location on these ancient crossroads has stimulated strong cultural and political influences from East and West civilizations, and yet maintained its unique cultural identity. Being older than most of the oldest towns like Rome, Athens, Carthage or Constantinople, an almost contemporary of Troy, Plovdiv is a town built upon layers of towns and a culture developed upon layers of cultures. All sightseeing tours include the architectural and historical reserve Old Plovdiv. The millennial history of Plovdiv is reflected here with all its cultural diversity. The Three Hills, on which Old Plovdiv was built, are named Nebet Tepe, Djambaz Tepe and Taxim Tepe.

The Ancient Theatre, the most impressive edifice of Roman time, was excavated during reinforcement works at the southern fortress wall. It offered almost 7 000 seats once. Nowadays it is used for staging opera and theatre festivals, concerts, municipal celebrations, etc. The present-day downtown section of Plovdiv lies on the ruins of an enormous Roman Stadium, which had a length of 180 m and was intended for 30 000 spectators. The contests held here were similar to the Greek Olympic Games and dated back to the rule of Emperor Septimus Severus (193 - 211 AD). An Ancient Forum was found next to today's Trimontium Hotel. Clearly visible here is the difference in the building structure of the Thracian agora made of sandstone and the Roman marble ruins. The beautiful houses in Old Plovdiv are dated back to the period of the Bulgarian National Revival. Many of them have been proclaimed for cultural monuments revealing the genius of the Bulgarian builders.

The town of Devin is located in the heart of the Central Rhodopes Mountain, in the valley of the Vacha River, at 710 m above sea level.

Travelling along the road connecting Plovdiv with the town of Smolyan make sure not to miss "The Miracle Bridges" - some of the most curious natural phenomena of the Rhodopes. They are natural rock arches formed probably thousands of years ago following an earthquake. It ruined an ancient cave, the water carried away the rocks which had fallen and as a result two marble bridges of rare beauty were formed side by side. You are an admirer of austere and magnificent beauty.

The curative mineral water is the greatest treasure of the region. The Vacha, Devinska, Muglenska and Trigradska Rivers are of exceptional significance for the area. Devin is at a distance of 196 km from the capital city of Sofia, 70 km away from the second largest city in Bulgaria – Plovdiv, 45 km away from the town of Smolyan and 31 km away from the Pamporovo Resort Complex. The town combines diverse relief, picturesque nature, mild climate and enjoys the presence of several types of mineral water springs with high capacity and average water temperature varying from 16°C to 78°C. The climate in this part of the country is transitory-continental and is characterized by lower summer temperatures. Resorts treatment in Hissar

Hissar health resort is situated in the centre of Bulgaria, on the southern slopes of the Sredna Gora range, 360 metres above sea level, 40 km north of the city of Plovdiv and 180 km east of
the capital Sofia.

Archaeological research has revealed that a town existed near the Hissar mineral springs 5000 years BC. Many years later Thracians, and after them Romans, settled around the warm springs. The Roman emperor Diocletian visited the town in 293 and built a fortified wall round it. The town was named Diocletianopol. In 1976 the cultural monuments in Hissar received due recognition and were granted the status of a national archaeological reserve at an area of 300 decares.

The town is protected from northern winds by the two mountain ranges of the Balkan mountains and Sredna Gora and this determines the temperate continental climate with mild winters, early springs, moderately hot summers (average monthly temperature of 22oC) and moderately warm, long autumns. The annual average air humidity is around 70%. Fogs are relatively rare. There are about 280 sunny days per year.

The town of Hissar boasts 22 mineral springs with temperature of the water between 37 and 52oC.

The mineral water in Hissar is of high natural purity and stable physicochemical composition (hydrocarbons, sulphates, magnesium ions, chlorides, metasilicic acid, fluorine, radon).
